动词的“熟词生义”知多少

　　多动词都有些平时学习中很少遇到的用法，出题人往往就此用法设题。
　　1. act vi. 起作用（熟义：行动）
　　It takes a couple of minutes for the drug to act. 药物要几分钟后才起作用。
　　2. address vt. 向……讲话（熟义：地址）
　　It is said that our headmaster will address the meeting. 据说我们的校长将在会议上讲话。
　　3. admit vt. 允许入内；容纳得下（熟义：承认）
　　The servant opened the door and admitted me into the house. 仆人打开门，并请我进去。
