The Ideos can be successfully pitched as the most affordable smartphone operating on Android v2.2. Perching on a compact plastic body is the 2.8-inch capacitive display that responds well to inputs. This smartphone is powered with a 528MHz processor and 256 MB RAM though it takes getting used to the on-screen QWERTY keypad. Configuring Gmail account was quick and it easily linked to GTalk and Android market. While only available at Aircel stores, the Ideos is not locked on the company’s network and you can use it with other service providers too. Aircel, however, is offering free talktime to its prepaid buyers and free rentals to postpaid customers. With only the LG Optimus One running on Android v2.2, the Ideos offers the cheapest option as its price is ` 4,000 less than the LG handset’s. Its priceline might be very attractive, but the Ideos might face tough competition from Samsung’s upcoming Android phone, the Galaxy Pop, that will likely be priced competitively and will run the same version of the OS.
